Play Doh Diggin Rigs - Chomper the Excavator

What do you get when you combine Tonka Trucks with Play Doh? You get the Play Doh Diggin Rigs Tonka Chuck and Friends Playsets. That is more than a mouthful, but it does describe this combination of the construction feel of Tonka Trucks with imaginative play of Play Doh.
Chomper the Excavator is a nice addition to the Diggin Rigs family although it lacks enough tools to be a headlining act. At best you can make three things from Play Doh - and one, the bricks is pretty difficult to remove from the mold. The best feature of Chomper the Excavator is the spring loaded claw. The claw works surprisingly well and can easily grab a variety of Play Doh parts.
Notes -
- As mentioned the claw is spring loaded and can easily grip and grab a variety of Play Doh attachments. The biggest disadvantage of the claw is that it is not very maneuverable and it has a tendency to want to tip over.
- You can only make three Play Doh parts from Chomper. The back shovel can be used to make a square block, the cab is used as a Play Doh press for making traffic barrels, and the back of the excavator makes bricks (although they are very difficult to remove from the mold).
- The back shovel can be removed
- Come with two small cans of Play Doh - Red and Black (Asphalt).
- Chomper rolls on his tracks for a real Tonka feel.
- The only accessory is the removable shovel
- Very easy to clean, especially for a Play Doh toy!
Final Verdict - Chomper the Excavator makes a nice addition to a Play Doh Diggin Rigs family. You may not want to start your Diggin Rigs set with Chomper, but it certainly is a fun addition for anyone who may already own Buster the Power Crane or the Brick Mill Playset.

This toy line is brilliant. My 3 year old and 5 year old boy both love the play-doh with the digging toys. The play-doh colors are even different- black with just a little sparkle, to look like asphalt. An orange color to look like mud or bricks. And silver to look like steel. This was a reward for my 3 year old, and he loves it! There is no greater treat for him than digging something, so having a digging machine plus the play-doh to dig in is a perfect fit.

My son loves this thing. The "chomper" is freakishly strong for a play-doh toy, so he holds full play-doh cans or big blobs or other random toys (matchbox cars and such). There is a stamp thing on the back (the black part) and the "cab" of the tractor pulls out to make other shapes.

I really like this toy. It is extremely fair priced compared to many other name brand toys, and my kids absolutely love it. They play with it using Play-doh and without the Play-doh, meaning it doesn't just sit in the closet when I don't feel like cleaning up the Play-Doh. They love taking it outside and rolling it through the dirt and mud, and the hard plastic is very easy to clean. I would definitely recommend this product! It was shipped promptly to us in perfect condition. My kids liked it so much we ended up buying the other items in this set!

Great little toy! Love the color and the fact that you can open and close the claw. Not super cheap quality. My 3yo son picked it out for one of his friend's bdays. All of the kids at the party loved it and they would be happy with it even without the playdoh (it DOES come with playdoh).
My 3 year old son LOVES this thing! Hours of pleasure playing with it.
The Play Doh is messy though.

Huge hit with my 3 year old son. Santa delivered this to our house to the great pleasure of my son. He can play with this thing for several hours at a time making little things with it, hauling the play doh cans around, and having the time of his life.
The play doh is messy so use a countertop or something, but it really gives my son hours of pleasure playing with it. Great investment. Buy it, plan for a mess going into it, but watch your kids enjoy the heck out of it.
